AK Steel Announces March Surcharges

 

Middletown, OH, February 16, 2005—AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) has advised its flat-rolled carbon steel customers that a $214 per ton surcharge will be added to invoices for products shipped in March 2005, an increase of $18 from February’s surcharge of $196 per ton.   AK Steel has also advised its electrical steel customers that a $340 per ton surcharge will be added to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in March 2005, a decrease of $70 from the February surcharge of $410 per ton for those products.   March surcharges for the broad range of stainless steel products that AK Steel produces can be found on the company’s web site at www.aksteel.com.

AK Steel’s surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the January 2005 purchase cost used to determine the March 2005 surcharges.
